Stanmore

Stanmore is an Inner West suburb that lies approximately 6km west of the Sydney CBD and is situated between Petersham to the west and Camperdown to the east. Annandale lies on the northern side of the Parramatta Road and interestingly, the suburb was once known as “South Annandale”.

Stanmore is popular amongst young professionals and small families who are attracted to the suburb’s array of parks, cafes and delis along Percival Road and its quiet tree lined streets.

Housing is mainly a mixture of semis, terraces and larger freestanding homes. The suburb’s housing pattern has an attractive uniformity which is lacking in many of its neighbouring suburbs. The suburb’s best streets are generally considered to be Myrtle Street, Temple Street and Clarendon Road.

Stanmore has its own railway station whilst buses provide convenient access along Parramatta Road. Due to its proximity to the CBD, demand for housing in the area is strong.

Stanmore is also home to the independent GPS school, Newington College. The Olympia Milk bar on Parramatta Road is the subject of local Inner West folklore.
